We have used the pool a lot this summer and the kids will miss being able to swim so much. In an effort to make the first day of school fun, I told Max and Kenna that if they woke up by 6:15 - we could go swimming until 7:00. Kenna was SOOO excited. She was up and in her swimsuit but then discovered that the morning isn't all that warm. We dipped our feet but ended up spending most of our time snuggling in towels and talking about the day. The kids were ready with lots of time to spare and opted to have mom drop them off at school rather than ride the bus. Max was off as soon as we entered those doors but Kenna was still happy to have me escort her to her room.
The house feels so empty when school first starts - so those of us left at home were happy when the big kids returned. We picked up some speciality chocolate chip cookies for snacks and had some small gifts waiting for them. Kenna got some fun stickers and jewelry and Max got a game and Basketball cards - just another way to celebrate this big day. Looks like today was a success, we'll see if we can do it again tomorrow.
