Kenna goes to a Lutheran preschool and over the years Max and she have come home with all sorts of Christian stickers, tattoos, slinkies, cups, and lots of cross paraphernalia. So the other day Kenna has her Easter Egg Hunt at school. As we are driving home, she is telling me all about it and she is opening her eggs to examine what is inside. Then I hear from the back, "Oh, it's a jumping Jesus." I'm thinking - huh???? Kenna again, "Mom, look - it's a jumping Jesus". I turned around to look and sure enough, it was a jumping Jesus. Jesus Christ, the Son of God; the Savior and Creator of the World who suffered for the sins of all mankind. The same Jesus whose name is sacred, whose teachings we try to follow, whose life we try to emulate and there he is in a little jumping doll.
Not the way I usually picture Christ but Kenna had no problem with it and spent an hour playing with her jumping Jesus. I guess this makes him quite the familiar figure with kids but I wonder if we are diluting His significance just a little. Every time I see this toy, I 'm not quite sure what to think - I just can't believe they make a jumping Jesus.

That is too cute and funny!
Where can I get a dozen of those to use as placecard-holders for Easter dinner? I wonder if there's a "Dancing Daniel" or a "Leaping Luke". We could come up with an entire table of gyrating Bible characters... Oh My!!!
Mimi, I laughed out loud at this. That is too funny... thank you for posting a picture of it b/c it was way better than the mental picture I had of it in my head. :)
i'm sorry, but i think this is hysterical! at least he's not a jumping and rapping Jesus!
You definitely gave me a good laugh! Genevieve thought it was a gorilla, as she sat on my lap looking at it, and began signing and making her gorilla sound. They both jump, right? Anyway, thanks for sharing. It's hilarious!
I also thought this was too funny! Everyone jumps, right.
Ha ha! That is soooo funny. I guess being from the south, and having Sydney in a Lutheran pre-school too, I wouldn't have been the least bit surprised at a jumping Jesus. But, at least it wasn't a bobble-head Jesus, right? :)
