Independence

This is it - Kenna is now BIG. Yes, she is now in Kindergarten, but today it actually donned on me. Last night Kenna was worried about being a car-rider by herself. You see, on Mondays I have to pick the kids up from school so Kenna can get to her dance class on time. Well, Max was sick and we suspected he might still be sick today. (He was) In the morning I told Kenna it would be fine and she just had to remember her car-rider number which is ___. She told me she had been repeating it all night long and so she would know it. (Wow! This really was a big deal). She found our car and all went well. When we got to dance and I asked her if she wanted me to walk her in, she said she was fine - she didn't need me. WHAT?!? This is my girl who always needed me to walk her into the classroom, help her put on her shoes, and always be there watching. Now she is fine without me?! I know I need to be ok with this and overall I am, but there is that little part of me that says, "Don't grow up" and "Still need me!" Oh, the internal battles of motherhood...
