Every year the 5th graders participate in a colonial day. With Max in his final year of elementary, we finally got to experience it. With borrowed costumes, we headed to the school and while Max churned butter, played "Are you Smarter than a Pilgrim", learned calligraphy, and practiced navigation - I taught 30 different groups of students how to play the game sticks and stones. It is a fun gambling game where you throw stones and dependent on how many were red size up, you win sticks from others. I lost my voice shouting instructions and encouragement over all the chaos but it was a great time. And of course it is always a treat to see Max and all his classmates.
