The new school year started at the end of August (can't believe so much time has already passed). We met Max's teacher, Mrs. Daugherty on Friday morning - Max has two friends from last year in his class and we are really excited about that. The following Monday, we geared up for 2nd grade! Crazy that Max is so old - I still have vivid memories of my 2nd grade year and I felt so old then. Anyway, Max woke up early, showered, and was ready to go - he even managed to be the first one to the bus stop! (A major feat for us - by the end of the year, we are running to make the bus!) He had a great first day - it is a bit of an adjustment from last year but so far so good.
Kenna started preschool the following Thursday. She has 2 very sweet teachers - Miss Jesse and Miss Kendra. She is really shy with them, but they reassured me that she does answer when they speak to her (it's a step). I asked Kenna to smile for me so I could take a picture of her on the first day of her 4-year-old class. She showed me her back, covered her eyes, and then stuck out her tongue - so this is the best I could get. I tried to let her know that someday she would want a nice picture of this day because it would never happen again - she didn't buy it. Oh well, like we often say at our house, you get what you get and you don't throw a fit!
