Christmas Eve

The day before Christmas - the long awaited Christmas Eve arrived so quickly.  Since our goodies were baked, cards out, and most of the presents wrapped, we heated the pool and invited a few friends over for swimming, cinnamon rolls (thanks Linda!), and brunch.  We had a great time - and loved those "Flying Saucer" pies Shea brought - what a treat!  Due to the cold air, the water felt a bit cold  - but once in, no one wanted to get out.  We had a great time visiting and playing - this is a tradition we keep!
Later that evening we each got to open one present - both Kenna and Max were overjoyed with their gifts from Grandma & Grandpa (a princess Aurora horse and NBA posters).  And Kenna just couldn't wait to see Mike open up the huge jug of gumballs she picked out - so cute!   We also enjoyed our icecream birthday cake for Jesus - I don't know that they celebrated like that in Nazareth - but we sure like it.

And no Christmas Eve could ever be complete without the traditional reading and acting out of the nativity story - Kenna made a beautiful angel, Brett was pretty excited about his shepherd attire, and Max was a very majestic wiseman (Mike and I got to play the roles of Mary and Joseph).   It was a ragtag performance but enjoyable nonetheless.

And then with a kiss and a prayer, it was off to bed so visions of sugarplums could dance in their heads.
