I go to church with the some of the most amazing women. Once a month, we have an activity just for the women because let's face it, everyone needs a girls' night out. I've been helping organize these nights for the past several months and wanted to have a night where we really celebrated each individual woman. So we had the Emma Awards (named for Joseph Smith, Jr.'s amazing wife) - we had music, red carpet, paparazzi, lights, fashionistas, appetizers, presenters, nominations and awards, golden pioneer Emma statuettes, and even golden award show cookies! It was such a fun night - I loved how these women embraced the theme and hammed it up.
It was great to see every lady highlighted for her own unique gifts and talents. My job was to make sure that all 143 had awards. While many were nominated by others, I had to ensure that all were in "award show lingo". Rounding up, creating, and translating these personal recognitions took a bit of time. Let's just say, that for the past week I have been living and breathing the Emma awards and sleep has not been my frequent friend. But everything came together and I developed the ability to think in Red Carpet language.
A small sampling of awards:
Outstanding Achievement in Set Design and Music Composition
This lady not only creates painted masterpieces, but opportunities to serve with her family on the biggest “set” of all. Who hasn’t been blessed by sweet melodies shared by someone in her family?
