At Brett's school, the children with birthdays on that very day get the honor of holding one of 3 flags - the US flag, the Texas flag, or the Christian flag. We brought the birthday snacks for his class this morning and couldn't miss seeing Brett proudly holding his flag. He couldn't look more miserable! Poor kid doesn't like to be coerced into anything and I'm pretty sure this is one thing he didn't really want to do. Next year we might just let this privilege just pass him by - it's the least I can do for the birthday boy.
