Kenna the Dancer

For months I worried about Kenna's first dance recital - it was scheduled 2 days before my due date and I kept wondering - will I be there, will I not be there? Although I was uncomfortable, little Cade decided to hold off his arrival so that Kenna could enjoy her big day. The day started with an early morning practice that left the afternoon open for pool and enjoyment. Kenna, however was more than ready to begin preparation for her dancing debut and kept asking when we could do her hair and make-up. We finally got her ready around 5, waited for the babysitter to come and watch Brett, and then we were off.

(All ready to go - Brett even applied make-up to his forehead but still had to stay home)

Kenna looked beautiful and really rose to the occasion. She was a lion and danced to Disney's, "I just can't wait to be King" and then changed into Pinocchio for the "I've got no Strings" tap routine. She loved the costumes, make-up, playing backstage, the big stage, and lights and proved to us that knew her dances much better than we had originally thought. We had intended on leaving the show right after her 2nd performance (Max and Mike did) but Kenna didn't want to miss a thing and insisted on sticking around for the grand finale. If I doubted before, I don't any longer - Kenna has decided she will definitely be doing dance again - the glory (and the roses) of that night were magical and make it all worthwhile.
