In Utah, the 24th of July is known as Pioneer Day. It marks the day that the Mormon pioneers arrived in Utah and decided that they would stop and settle the area. No work, mail, school, and big sales - yes, it's an official state holiday. I was once told that the parade was the 8th largest in the nation. Thanks to the urging of "Grandy" this year, Max, Kenna and I drove to downtown Salt Lake to experience the event. Parking was easy and we had a great spot on the parade route. We saw lots of horses, floats, police, and pioneers, but the kids were most excited to see President Deiter F. Uchtdort, an apostle of the Lord who works closely with the prophet - President Monson. A very fun experience.
Afterwards, we all loaded up in Grandy's car and headed to McDonald's. If you asked Max and Kenzie, they might say that was their favorite part of the day. :)
