Grandma Lola

At the close of our Hawaii trip, we were met with some sad news - Mike's grandmother, Lola Williams had passed away suddenly.  I'm sure she was happy to go but we were going to be in Utah in just 5 days and she was going to meet Cade for the first time. We were just sad that one last reunion here was not going to happen.  Lola was a wonderful woman - practical, generous, a loyal friend, avid sports fan, loved an adventure, caring, supportive,  and wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother.  Max especially loved visiting here because some kind of game was always on.  She told things how they were and took life as it came - the good and bad.  She was a strong woman who raised a great son and in turn blessed all of our lives.
Just like Lola would want, we kept things simple and had a small graveside service with song, a few short remembrances, and a dedication.  She didn't think things should be fussed over so tried not to.  Lola loved trying out different restaurants and taking people out to eat, so after the service we headed to Ruby River Steak House (one of her favorites) for a family dinner.  We enjoyed being together and reminiscing in that place that to us was all Lola.

Lola Schnuerle Willams
1922 ~ 2010
Lola Schnuerle Willams passed away peacefully on July 8, 2010 of natural causes. She was born to Carl and Velma Schnuerle on a cold January 22, 1922 in Almena, Kansas. Inspired by grade school teachers from a one room country school, Lola pursued nursing and graduated from St. Luke's School of Nursing in Boise, Idaho. She later completed a nursing degree from the University of Utah, and was a devout fan of the U.

In 1943 she married Aaron Keyser in Boise, Idaho and had one son before divorcing. She later married Glen Williams. Lola spent 38 years in nursing, and served as the director of nursing for Salt Lake County. She said these were years of gratifying work with lots of good friends and good memories.

Staying active was always important for Lola. She was an avid golfer, bowler, traveler, reader and had a great love for her family and friends. She enjoyed good music, great food and many laughs. Her advice on living successfully is to simply be honest and enjoy life.
