My parents are so good - when we come in town they open up their schedules and take us on the greatest excursions. Together with my sister & her kids, sister-in-law Jen & her kids (and her sister and kids), we all headed to Monterrey. It was windy and a little cold for my Texans but once they saw the beach and realized they could run around - they were fine. Scooping up sand, chasing the seagulls - it is just gorgeous and feels refreshing and free.
We ate lunch right on the water and then headed to the aquarium. There is so much to see - we only made a little dent. Brett was determined to see a whale. The sharks, jellyfish, otters, octopus, and giant fish didn't suffice - he needed a GIANT whale. It was getting out of hand and into meltdown mode when he noticed a big circle-like thing in the back of the tank. He was convinced it was the whale's eye (thank goodness - I think that was an answer to my desperate prayer for help!). We decided the whale was sick so he had to stay in the back but boy were we happy with that eye. The jellyfish and the general ability to pear into a whole different world was amazing.

The kids watched, touched, climbed, and ran through the exhibits. I was so fun to see them enjoy their cousins, grandparents, and the all endless opportunities. We stopped at Ghiradelli's to indulge in some yummy goodness before heading back to the house. It's no wonder why we all love coming to California.

An attempt to pacify Brett's need to see the whale (it wasn't swimming so he wasn't that impressed).

I was just thinking, "I think I took some pictures just like a few of these." Then I realized that they are probably from my camera :) Could you do a post about this trip on my blog for me?
