Today we celebrate life, hope, mercy, resurrection, and salvation. It is the most significant day of the year. By taking on our sin and suffering and overcoming death, our Savior has given us the gift of redemption, eternal life, and the promise that we can be together with our loved ones forever. In celebration of this miraculous day, we brightly colored Easter Eggs (just looking at them makes you happy), and spent time with people we love. Everyone donned their Easter duds - new life = new clothes - and we snapped a few pictures.
This was our best attempt at a family picture - I really don't know how photographers do it. We obviously struggle a bit. The kids were thrilled to having matching outfits - I loved shopping for them. The weather was great and as always, my boys felt the need to run around and dog pile each other - I guess that's one blessing of having a healthy, working body.
The Daley's are so fun bunch to have around and humored us quite well. Because church was early, we waited to find baskets, have our egg hunt, and prep dinner. Everything seemed to worked out (besides our golden egg episode - greedy! greedy!) and no one went without.
Cade has been in love with the plane from "Cars" for months and always tries to swipe it from his friend's house. He was overjoyed when he found it with his basket and broke out into a happy dance. He needed it immediately and made sure his dad wasted no time in getting that box opened! Brett was his own relaxed self - content with what he already has so no inclination to look for goodies. But...when he discovered his basket his response was classic. With amazement and delight he looked through his stuff and declared, "I GOT EVERYTHING!"
Max had a hard time finding his stuff which led to some frustration. With a few clues, however, he finally had success and was especially excited about his new thermos - now he can finally take Raman noodles to lunch!
We did attempt an Easter walk - a sort of scavenger hunt with scriptures but the kids were not that into it this year. Amid all this celebrating, Marlowe and Kristen took some time to ponder the meaning of the day - I was amazed at how they focused despite the bustling of kids. It was a day of joy - how grateful we are for the hope and goodness that comes with Easter.

I like the matching clothes. Good work shopper Mimi! Your boys reactions are priceless. I love that Cade did a happy dance and Brett's reaction that he got EVERYTHING! It just makes me happy to see your happy kids. Poor Max, you guys must have really had fun hiding his stuff. And Marlowe and Kristen have great focus. I wish I was that determined to really follow through with the idea that Sunday is the day of rest.
