Spring Fling and Crawfish

Today was the school's annual Spring Fling. I headed over with the 3 older kids and we hit up the silent auction first thing.  Usually we NEVER win anything we bid in but this year we were lucky (???). Guess there was less bidding but Kenna went home with zuzu pet stuff, I got a scentsy, swim basket, and camera, and Max won a wallet with a mystery amount of cash.  He ended up losing $5 on his deal but we tried to reassure him that the damage could have been far worse.  I thought the experience might teach him something but he said he'll bid on the wallets again next year hoping to get the $200 prize - really?! We also tried a few carnival games then the kids saw the rock wall.  They begged and begged so I used they last of my tickets and made them  promise they'd climb to the top.  Both Kenna and Brett were done about 1/2 way up - hope they enjoyed it.

Later that evening, we got together with friends for a real live crawfish boil put on by some Louisiana natives.  We thoroughly enjoyed the company but I have come to the conclusion that I am not really a crawfish fan. Kenna, however, enjoyed the live ones immensely.  Along with friends, she put them in trays, got them grass and water, all the while poking and prodding the crustaceans.  At the end of the night, all little girls were determined to save the crawfish so they took the kiddie pool filled with them and dumped it into the lake.  I wonder if they might surprise a few triathlon swimmers in that lake this summer.

There are some lessons you just don't want to learn. The chance of making crazy money on a mystery wallet might just be too exciting to pass up.
