Taking it Easy - kind of

We have been LOVING the last few days.  Sleeping in a bit, making our own schedule, and yes, sometimes hanging out in our pajamas or underwear (almost there for Cade) for half the day.  Although, we did have quite the adventure yesterday - which required some sleeping in today.
Beginning our trek to the lake
For the 4th, we decided to head to the "big" lake with our friends the Richards.  About 1/2 way into the journey, a tire blew on our trailer.  We pulled into the parking lot of a nearby hotel - sweated it out in the car for a while and then hopped into their pool.  A little over an hour later were back on track; heading to our destination. The lake was fun - a little choppy with rain in the distance but we all had a good time.  It was nearing 9pm and we were only about 10 miles from our house when we heard a strange noise so Mike hopped onto the access road to see if it persisted.  The noise seemed to stop, we were back on the freeway and then I see sparks and smoke coming from the trailer!  One of the tires on the trailer completely came off - rim and all and was nowhere to be found.  The weight of supporting the boat caused the other tire to go flat and we were stranded with a huge boat and trailer - now way to move it and a tired, somewhat smelly and bedraggled family.  We called the Richards - needing some kind of rescue. With their help the kids and I made it home by 10:15, took in a few fireworks and went to bed.  Poor Mike was out until 2am - no one seemed to have a big enough trailer bed to haul  our Malibu. Hopeless, Mike almost resigned to sleep in the truck for the night when he found a towing trailer just long enough - boy are we glad that man purchased it just 10 days earlier.  Three out of 4 tires gone or flat in a day - REALLY!  Sometimes life just happens and very rarely as planned.
