Easter Sunday - for some reason this ended up being a very busy day after quite the busy weekend. The previous Friday and Saturday had been Youth Conference (a sort of retreat for all the church teenagers) and as a leader - I attended certain parts of that event: then on Easter morning - Mike had to prepare and be up bright and early to give a sunrise devotional to the youth; I was in charge of the Easter lesson at church that day for the Young Women and committed myself to using technology to present the lesson (always a stresser), and to top things off Brett woke up that morning covered from head to toe -and bed- in poo! Not all of these are bad things - they just require time and thought, and don't necessarily contribute to a feeling of relaxation and enjoyment.
Despite all that, the Easter bunny did make it to our house and the kids were more than excited to find their baskets and eggs on Easter morning. Max was up by 7:15 and anxiously asked me if it was alright to begin the search - both he and Kenna had gotten dressed by themselves (I make everyone put on real clothes for Christmas and I think they assumed Easter was the same - I have to admit I was proud of them). I told Max that he was only allowed to collect up to 18 eggs and had to leave the rest for Brett and Kenna - well, he wasted no time doing just that (he later collected many more eggs when he wrongly assumed the Easter hunt time was over). Kenna on the other hand would pass egg after egg and when I asked her about it - she told me that she wasn't going to get any eggs until she found her basket. Boy was that girl determined but her basket was so hard to find! She finally discovered it in the dryer after a few clues from dad - whew!
All the kids got new pajamas, a few toys, and lots of candy - there's nothing like a chocolate bunny for breakfast! After a few candy appetizers, we get to enjoy a brunch of creme brulee french toast, bacon, eggs (of course!), and fruit. Then readied for church we were about to take off (sans Mike and Brett due to Brett's bowel problems), when I discovered that Brett had taken off with my ipod which contained all the music I NEEDED for my Easter lesson/presentation. PANIC!!!! - I couldn't find it anywhere and was honestly losing it by then. Mike saved the day by reconfiguring his ipod and filled it with my music - So to church almost an hour late, got through the lesson; pulled off Easter dinner; played with the kids - it was a beautiful afternoon and Kenna and Brett set up a whole home out on the driveway; family hot tub time, got everyone into bed and then CRASHED! I really do love Easter but when it is so busy I sometimes miss focusing on the real reason for the day - I really need to heed the counsel "Be still and know that I am God."

Your Easter Sunday sounds like it took a week! No wonder you crashed. Nothing like starting a reflective day with a child covered in poo!
Love you!
