Brett *@%#!!!

OK, this guy has a very sweet disposition but seriously, he is into EVERYTHING!!  For the past 10 years I have taken my wedding ring and bands off every night and placed them on the back corner of our bathroom vanity.  Never once has this been an issue - until now.  Brett has figured out how to pull himself up onto the bathroom counter from a standing position on the floor.  For some reason this is one of his favorite places to be (must be the nearby water source).  So on Wednesday (Kenna's birthday so I am doing my best to try a nice mom) - anyway, after I showered I went to put on my rings (there are 5 all together - 4 are small bands) and I step on one on the floor and find another one under that bathroom mat.  OK so I have 2, but 3 bands are still missing.  I find myself panicking and start tearing the whole bathroom up figuring they have to be somewhere.  And yes, I immediately assumed the culprit was Brett - I interrogated him but due to his limited verbal skills didn't get very far.  But he definitely knew I was mad and every time he would look at my face, he'd burst into tears.  After Kenna and I searched up and down for those rings, I realized there was not much I could do - so I said a prayer, closed up the sink and told the kids it was off limits for the rest of the day.  That night while we were finishing up soccer practice w/Max - Mike went home and opened up the sink - Sure enough - he found 2 anniversary bands.  Still one platinum band short - but I am considering myself blessed.  Really though, for all 3 bands to be down there in the sink - Brett had to be stuffing them down there - what a little stinker!  This is the kind of stuff you hear about happening to other people but never want to happen to you.  So now I have found a new hiding place for my rings and am still crossing my fingers that the last band will miraculously pop up.
How in the world in I going to handle 4 kids?!  I seriously wonder....

ugh! i'm so sorry! bode has never been one to get into anything, except once. i left my jewelry box out when he was three and the only earrings in there of any value were diamond studs. and those are the ones that never turned back up. why he couldn't have been interested in the cheap sterling silver...keegen, on the other hand, we have had to retrain ourselves and put things high and away. i hope your band shows up!

Same experience for us too. We thought were so prepared with Ben. Got "tot locks" for all of our dangerous drawers... Then, Maggie came along. Magzilla! Nothing is safe when she's around. I thought locking a few drawers was enough. Ha! She has shown us!

What a nightmare!!!!! Seriously, when you can't find your rings - it is the worst feeling!!! And when your kids are the culprit - it is the worst!!!

I've lost my wedding bands before in a backyard full of hay after one of my kids birthday parties - after hours going through a yard of hay, sorting through bags & bags of party trash (yuck!!!), renting a metal detector and many prayers - the rings were finally found at the bottom of a haystack! I am so sorry you had to go through that!!!! You are VERY lucky you found the ones in the drain!!! I'm crossing my fingers that the last one will turn up! Have you thought of trying a metal detector? May be worth a shot!

That is sooooo lucky you found most of the rings! Hope you find that last one! I can't imagine having four kids! I always thought I would, but Drew will be in all day school next year...and the whole idea of starting over again is too much to even think. Hope you guys are doing great!
