Western Dancing

It is amazing to me that we have almost lived in Texas for 8 years!  Sure there are things that I don't love about this place, but many of the traditions, manners, and events have grown on me and I find myself especially looking forward to this time of year - it's almost RODEO time.  And in order to celebrate this big event both the elementary and preschools have "Western Days".  Max and all the other 2nd graders have been practicing a variety of country line dances and square dances for weeks and they finally got to show of their moves!  Honestly, I love it.  Max was so cute this morning - as he was leaving for the bus dressed in all his duds (even his dad's old cowboy boots), he said to me - "Mom, you're sure today is my Western day?"  I had to laugh  because I'm sure I would feel the same way - who wants to show up to school and you are the only one all dressed up?  But it all worked out and almost everyone was sporting their cowboy style.
Max seemed to have a great time and so did we (other than Brett who spent the whole time flopped down on the ground in protest).  But Max looked great out there and didn't even complain about having to dance with a girl.  I can only hope his enthusiasm for things like this lasts a long time.

Max looks so GQ in that last picture. Who knew he was such a stud? And he looks super tall in those cowboy boots. These pictures are adorable!

So cute Meems! I can't believe you are turning into a Texan! Meems & Rodeo's just don't go together in my mind...who knew?
