In Utah they have a monument to commemorate the site where Brigham Young stopped and declared that this would be the place where the Mormon pioneers would settle. I visited the monument as a kid but just remember it being hot w/nothing much around. Well now they have a big heritage village full of over 40 pioneer homes and shops. We thought we would stop by for an hour or so but ended up staying 5! It was one of our favorite places.
We toured lots of cabins and visited many of the local businesses in the village. Kenna and Max made rope, arrowhead necklaces, stamped leather at the saddle shop, watched a mock bank robbery, played with wooden toys, washed clothes with a washboard, bought penny candy, carded wool, went on a wagon ride and on several train rides, pulled a handcart, ate yummy ice cream, rode on horses, pet lots of animals, danced to the player piano, and more. Yet there was still so much we didn't see.
We had such a great time - this will definitely be a regular stop on our future trips.
