Derby Day

'
It's that time of year again - Pinewood Derby time (it was actually Kentucky Derby day too). Max is nearly 11 and almost out of cub scouts but we thought we'd participate in this one last derby.  We aren't too handy around our house so Max had the brilliant idea of using his old car that Grandpa had worked really hard on again this year.  There are no rules against this so we entered it as "The Car" and made a decent showing.  Max's "car" didn't sweep the competition but we definitely were not the slowest either.  In the meantime, Cade and Brett stocked up on lots of popcorn, spilled water, and got a little restless watching the races.
Later that afternoon we walked down to our neighbors to join them for their big Crawfish boil.  At this point we knew we didn't like crawfish but happily munched on hotdogs, chips, fruit, and other great stuff.  My kids were more than happy to spend hours in the pool and on the trampoline.  What I thought would be 45 minutes turned into over an hour.  Thanks Mandy and Chase for letting us join in on the fun~!

I bet Grandpa was glad that you got extra use of that pinewood derby car. That was always an exciting project at our house growing up. And I love the pictures of Brett jumping in the pool. It's pretty cool that every house in Texas comes with a pool!
