More Competing

Every Saturday until July, our life is swimteam.  I wake the kids around 6am, they throw on their swimsuit, (I dress a sleeping Brett), we load the car with snacks, activities, towels, and sunscreen, and head to the meet.  The kids have warm-ups around 7 and then we wait for their events to begin.  There are over 70 events in the meet and my kids compete in 12 of them so there is waiting, snacking, and lots of checking of scores.  Today Mike and Cade even went paddle boarding in the nearby lake! Thank goodness for a great snack bar (lots of snow cones) and good friends at the meet.

Today was a tough one for Max.  He competed in his relay so he wouldn't let the team down but his ankle was throbbing.  He tried individual back but with his injury, his times are just not the same.  Kind of sad for him but in a few weeks we are hoping he'll be back to normal.  Brett had a great meet and improved his times dramatically!  He swims his events near minute time but for this little guy, that it great.  Kenna has become a competitor this season too and is swimming hard - she even has ribbons to show for it.  I am in charge of ribbons this year.  It takes a bit of time but is done in the air-conditioning and my kids and I get to see just how well everyone did - kind of exciting.  By 3pm, we are zapped (at least I am) and gladly return home for a low-key evening.  A fulfilling and full day.

Way to go Max, Kenna, and Brett! I would like to see a picture of you dressing said sleeping Brett. Sounds entertaining.
