Natalie and Sarah in the water fight
I just got back from girls camp. Tired and in need of a shower, but in awe of these wonderful girls - ages 12-18. They have so much enthusiasm, love, and potential. I bunked with the 14 year olds and loved listening to their conversations, taking in their concerns and seeing them bond with each other. There was time for swimming and the water slide, rock climbing, a dancing flash mob, crafts, service, devotionals, zip lining, a massive water fight, campy stuff, games, and much more.
Alison and Natalie at flag ceremony w/a big moth of course!
After leaving a devotional - these girls were bombarded by their bishops with water guns and buckets but we fight back pretty well and with the hot weather, nobody minded getting wet. The bishops then competed in a sort of relay race. Being the youngest bishop, our Chris Crawford got to go first - they had to eat some pretty nasty stuff and race blindfolded, stack blocks without hands - we were all just glad it was them not us in the competition. We then had some time for devotional, testimonies, and treats. It was so nice to spend some time just together with our girls.
Later in the week, the 3rd year girls in our cabin (known as fantastic firecrackers) were awarded the "Golden Plunger" award for a clean cabin. They also won for best adapted camp song - to the tune of "Give Said the Little Stream", and then there were some eating and other contests. Pretty much the 3rd years rocked! The last night there was no curfew and while we had a few determined souls who were staying up all night, exhaustion set in and by 2:30 everyone was out. These girls are full of life, love, and are just wonderful. What a privilege it was to spend a week with them!
