Swim team season is a officially over now that divisionals has wrapped up. (We do have an invitational on Saturday but are almost there!) There was an awards banquet this afternoon - unfortunately Max was sick, but Kenna and Brett accompanied me to celebrate their accomplishments. They got awesome trophies but is was still hot and buggy so we hightailed it out of their after briefly reveling in their success.
I think the most exciting part of the evening was when we dropped off Isabella's trophy. On their neighbor's driveway was a perfectly good trampoline set out for trash pickup. I am not usually a trash hunter, but we couldn't pass it up. The kids a little worried we'd get in trouble but we giddy about our find.
The next morning they were up bright and early. They had set up breakfast, pulled out the trampoline, and were thoroughly enjoying their morning. This is what summer should be! It's amazing how one person's trash can bring so much joy to another. These kids are certainly treasures -I love the simple joy they often find in life and how they look out for each other.
Later that same day, Kenna came downstairs dressed as a "boy". I think she looks pretty fetching. Maybe the tomboy look wouldn't be so bad for her. And that long tongue, I'm a bit envious - she definitely didn't get it from me!
